The thinking behind Content&Calm™
Like so many of us, my life is all about trying to find the right balance: the balance between being a good Mum and still feeling that I have a life of my own. Travel has always played a big role in my life and when I had the first of our 2 children I was keen to still be able to go out and about without feeling that my children were suffering as a result.

Having worked hard to establish a routine and with darkness being key to my daughter sleeping well, I found maintaining her routine away from home difficult. Darkness helped to protect her sleep routine but made it hard for others to use the room when she was asleep. On holiday sometimes we couldn’t leave our room in the evening because we couldn't find a babysitter prepared to sit in the dark with her.

And I spoke to nursery owners, who talked about how difficult they found it to maintain a child’s sleep pattern when the lights were full on to suit other children in the room.

After searching for a product out there to meet the need and being unable to find one, I decided to develop the Content&Calm™ range of sleep canopies.

I can’t quite believe that it’s nearly a month since the trade fair. Lots has been going on at Content&Calm HQ (which used to be a spare bedroom but which seems to be coping well with the career change). I’ve been meeting and negotiating with several major retailers – including Mothercare and The Kids Window – whilst getting the products made and working through all the logistics involved in getting the finished product from A to B. Put like that, it sounds quite straightforward!

Just back from the BPA in Birmingham. Our stand was buzzing, we had lots of interest from retailers big and small and I've come home with a folder full of orders - great stuff.

Only a week left before my first ever trade fair at the NEC in Birmingham. I had some really positive feedback at the press day in London so I’m looking forward to talking to retailers and getting Content&Calm out there for folks to buy. I’m at stand B30A so if you happen to be there do please pop by and say hello. Can’t quite believe we’re here at last, thanks to everyone who has given me such great support along the way especially my husband Tim. I’m also quite excited because the Content&Calm Cot Canopy™ has been nominated for an award by the BPA. Fingers crossed.
