• A darkened environment during a daytime nap is essential for many babies, especially as they get older. When the baby comes into a light sleep during the nap, if it’s dark he is more likely to resettle himself back and continue to have a longer and more restful sleep.
• Another benefit of using The Cot Canopy is to provide your baby with a familiar environment, no matter where he’s sleeping that night. Sleep associations are important in helping a baby get into ‘sleep mode’ and settle to sleep. So, no matter where you are, once in his cosy, darkened cot he’ll feel able to sleep.
• The single most important tip to encourage good sleep habits in your baby is to help him to settle himself to sleep. If he can go to sleep by himself in the fi rst place, he’s much more likely to be able to resettle himself during the night or to help him have a long enough daytime nap.
• When you go away, of course it’s a holiday for your baby too! However too many late nights and early mornings will take its toll on all of you. Babies are much happier, more able to have fun and enjoy a holiday when they get enough sleep-all this adds to your enjoyment too! The Content & Calm Cot Canopy will help your baby sleep longer in the mornings, as well as helping them have an early night while you’re still up enjoying your holiday evenings.
• The earliest age that a baby ‘sleeps through the night’ is between 8-12 weeks old. This is dependent on enough feeds being taken during the day and on good sleep habits being encouraged. Most babies don’t sleep a 12 hour night until they are on solid foods at around 6 months. A breastfed baby may need to be fed at night for longer than this, depending on your approach.
• The Content & Calm Cot Canopy is fantastic for use in a day nursery where a number of babies are sleeping in the same room. A flap can be left open for observation, but the enclosed, darkened environment will really help baby to a good sleep.
